It's
fun!
Square dancing is a party every time you do it! It brings people together
for fun and fellowship - even when learning how. The fun starts right on
the very first night. You meet new people and make new friends. You may
think you know square dancing from your school days. Well, think again,
because this is not your father's dance routine. You will hardly recognize
modern square dancing. There is new music, from golden oldies to current
hits. There are new dance steps, exciting new patterns that keep changing,
and unique calls to learn. You will find square dance clubs in most countries
of the world including Japan, Sweden, and Germany. Learn to dance and a
whole new world of opportunities for fun and fellowship will open up for
you.
It's
healthy!
Square dancing is aerobic exercise, the starting and stopping helps build bone
density, and it's often just what the doctor ordered for physical therapy.
Reacting to the caller's calls keeps you mentally on your toes, and the
human touch and social interaction are good for the soul. You can read
more about the health benefits of square dancing in this WebMD
article.
It's
inexpensive!
A dance usually costs around $5 per person, less for teens, and that includes
refreshments. That's pretty reasonable when you consider the cost of a
movie these days, not to mention dinner.
Square Dancing
is Friendship set to Music.
Square dancers
form lifetime bonds. It's not uncommon for people to be friends for 30,
40 or more years. Maybe it's because we live so dang long! Maybe it's
just because we love to do something that's fun, healthy, wholesome, and
satisfying.
